The five points of the Pentacle symbolize the four elements and the four directions, with the fifth point representing Spirit and As above, so below. The circle encompassing the pentagram is a symbol for unity, connection, Earth cycles and the journey through collective consciousness. The oldest known Pentacle dates all the way back to 3,000 B.C. and is thought to have been the symbol of an ancient Egyptian goddess Kore. This symbol has been used in a large variety of written spiritual texts across the world including but not limited to; the ancient Egyptians, the Babylonians, the Celtics, Druids, Native Americans and ancient Greeks.
Ancient cultures had a use for this symbol, considering it is so prevalent throughout known history. Some ancient civilizations utilized the pentacle for angles in building and giving direction. Some related it to astrology, the five points symbolizing Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus. In ancient times, Hebrews referred to the pentacle as the “Seal of Solomon”. Early Christians thought the pentacle should represent the wounds of Jesus Christ, which were: his two hands, his two feet, and his side due to being crucified.
